Subpart E -- It is unclear whether the proposed revisions will waive or modify provisions of 5 U.S.C. Section 3326 that restrict the appointment of retired members of the Armed Forces to positions in the civil service in or under the Department of Defense during the 180 days immediately after retirement. These restrictions should remain; otherwise, military members may unduly influence decision-makers regarding future employment while still in uniform.
