I have dealt with cronyism in many of the occupational fields in which I have endeavored to participate in my work career. I detest it because of its unfairness to people with good work ethic who do not have "friends" in management. Your proposal to promote only on merit is wonderful in theory, but in real practice you and I must know that it is not what you know but who you know. And if you think that it is going to be any different under your new system you are merely deluding yourself with high expectations of human integrity in this respect. This area of performance management smacks of cronyism to the max. Therefore, I am totally against this new approach. This is probably the tip of the iceberg as your other areas of change leave the line workers without any say-so in what happens to them.
