Section 9901.342. There are good aspects of the “pay for performance” concept which are evident in the private sector, especially in small businesses and contract work. Does this concept apply well to government entities? For example, is it “correct” if we paid firefighters how well or not a fire is put out? What happens if there is no fire? Does the firefighter get paid? What if a firefighter is in a pay pool with other fire fighters, but is off-duty at the time of a fire? In this system, that individual fire fighter will be demoted for “non-performance”. Delete this section.
