The Acquisition Demo should have given plenty of opportunity for folks to realize how paybanding and pay for performance should and could work. My experience is less than encouraging. I am one who had been consistently praised for working beyond my expected level, but when the actual paycheck came, it was less than I would have gotten under the old longevity system (regardless of my performance level). Perhaps bonuses and QSIs under that system would have adequately honored my performance level in addition and I would have been even further along. The new system is overly supportive of management and such power can be (and in several local cases -- has) abused and thereby creating fundamentally unfair hiring, promoting, retention enhancement, and training/development practices. Cronyism, nepotism, and several other despicable practices can evidently be exercised with impunity How about having an IG and/or the GAO investigate the various Commands currently under the Acq Demo before we thrust this system onto everyone else? !!!!!
