I think this is a huge slap in the face for the loyal government worker. Basically the politicians want to cut unions from out from underneath us. They want to take away our right to greive. There will be no way to greave at the local level, it will all have to be done at the National level, which would be minimal anyway, and the National Office doesn't have the personal link or knowledge of situations as the do at the local level. Politicians are telling us that we - the civilian - may have to work overseas and if we don't like it we loose our jobs - yet we are loosing all perks of govenment service. You want to treat us like military, it seems to me, yet we are to be employeed/fired, etc, just like the private sector. I think this NPS is a step WAY BACKWARDS and it is a waste of a lot of time, money and hot air. The only people that really gain anything from this is Managment - because they can do what ever the heck they want to toward someone and not have any reprecussions for it or possible greivance/disicplinary actions taken against them. This whole system is WRONG. I understand that it helps get rid of the bad employee - but management does have ways to do that now - it just takes a bit longer. I also think that not providing people tenure or military service credit is criminal. This new system will basically put forth a buddy - buddy system and that is all there is to it!
