For those of us near retirement, I find this lack of concern for our well being deplorable. The Federal worker community has survived quite well with its current structure. The new pay banding will ensure only the 'chosen' few will receive any compensation at all. Congress can vote themselves pay raises and I guarantee that they will give themselves a hefty raise the first year NSPS is in effect. Let them be paid for the amount of work they do!! They couldn't survive on that amount of money. With no union representation and no way to affect fairness in the workplace, the government workforce will lose the blessed expertise it so desperately needs as Federal workers depart to other jobs. As a DoD employee, I would hate to think of someone with NO experience coming in and trying to develop weapons systems, or pay military spouses correctly when the employee has no idea what we are all about and what job we do. So to the Army corporal in Iraq, I apologize that your wife will not receive money she is supposed to receive to raise your child while you're deployed, and I apologize that your GPS is not accurate to identify where the enemy is. God bless our troops.
