I have been a civil servant for over 20 years now. I have seen favoritism at it's worst in my 20 year career. I had a 'Hitler' of a supervisor for 14 years, he evaluated his staff according to whom they were married to. I passively sat and watched 'leg rubbing', females utilize their sexuality to gain promotion into new positions, and I was informed from the NCOIC that my current 'Hitler' Supervisor had stated that he was going to 'work' me out of my job. In the present system, the department banded together and held a hearing, he no longer is our Supervisor. Can the new system afford the workers such recourse? I doubt it! Most of us in Civil Service understand how this new NSPS system came into being. It was slid into the Patriot Act Bill and has absolutely nothing to do with National Security! It's simply a method in which the Federal Government can more readily fire personnel, discourage long term civil servants into leaving, abolish most of the powers of the Union, RIF long term employee's thus taking away their committed careers without retirement pay. The reason I joined Civil Service was because it afforded me security in the job market. It certainly was not because of the competitive pay!!! So, I've worked my behind off, gave completely of myself, fostered teamwork in the workplace, have been an exceptional employee and it has all come down to this new program that Rumsfeld and Bush have crammed down our throats. Of course NOTHING any of us have to say will change a darn thing now will it? Personally, I am at a juncture where I'm not so proud to be an American anymore, sleezy politicians passing laws that do NOT protect dedicated federal employee's who have given their entire career's alongside of the wonderful Military men and women for decades means absolutely NOTHING! This country is corrupt, fat, and not firing on all cylinders. I used to be proud that I was a Federal employee, but now I see how ugly this country really is. Oh Well, at least we get a first hand historical repeat of what our goverment did to the Indian's, except this time it's US. the joke is on US! Currently, I have a fantastic Supervisor, but he'll only be around for a little while and THEN, how will the cards fall.... Maybe another misguided manager who finds me not to his or her liking. A reduction in pay maybe, a lame brain evaluation, harrassment on a daily basis like my past 'Hitler' boss. Wow, can't wait.. And when I need the Union to help me with this blatent discrimination, they won't be there, some other corrupt committee will be there probably in concert with my evil new supervisor and poof, my job is gone, career ended, and no retirement. Yeah, we'll all REAL excited about the new program that WILL be implemented. We're just worker bee's, robots, idiot's that fell for the American pie dream that our original goverment sold us. The same manure that was sold to the American Soldier with their promised benefits upon retirement, YEAH RIGHT. So then, go on with your bad selves and do your dasterdly new program, because NOTHING anything your faithful federal employees say will change the course of the horrible inevitable ridiculous new program from unfolding. Personally, I'd like Congress's retirement package, what do you think boys? We'll switch, you work 30 years, with a Hitler type boss, get almost to the finish line and have some ridiculous new 'system' implemented and I'll work 2 to 4 years like you for a full package rich retirement plan. Shame on you America, Shame on YOU!!!!!! signed: Truly Ashamed and Disgusted
