I like the idea of Pay Banding and the new appraisal system. What I do not like and do not understand is why our annual Cost of Living raise need to be tied into our performance appraisal. I suggest you use the performance appraisal to give additional RIF consideration and On the Spot and other awards. Many folks need the annual (3.5%?) to survive. Possible Problem Example: Last year money got tight and it was determined Region wide that no performance awards would be given. (several thousand imployees involved.) With the new set up it could be determined that no cost of living money would be awarded. + having a supervisor and a board of folks that do not know you determine whether you get a raise or not has a lot of room for problems. Keep the pay banding and the new appraisal system, but do not tie it to the annual cost of living raise. thanks you for listening, randy work phone 757-433-2868...
