My concern is that DoD will look at all the comments provided by concerned employees and citizens, but disregard the comments and proceed with the proposal as written. Looking at the comments thus published on the web page, the vast majority are concerned with loss of veteran's preference, undefined policies and procedures, the good old boy system legitimized, and degredation of union participation. We like to think we live in a society where the majority are heard and are afforded due consideration. I'm afraid, however, that Secretary Rumsfeld does not believe in the tenets of democracy, and will disregard the thousands upon thousands of comments against his proposal. What process is in place to ensure that the comments will be considered and used to modify the current proposal?
