I am opposed to NSPS. Not because as a Federal Emoloyee, I fear change, but because I've seen changes that were supposed to benefit us before. I don't feel that the Government really cares about its employees. Every year, another "threat" confronts the common employee. That is, the Wage Grade employees. The WG's, WL's etc. Our current pay scale does not even come close to those in the Private Sector. We are asked endure hardships: TDY travel to War Zones, Extended TDY trips abroad in support of our service people, outlandish demands to produce more products in less time. While TDY, our pay scale doesn't increase. It stays the same, while civilian contractors working alongside of us get as much as twice our pay, "plus" unbelievable benefits. Doesn't anyone care anymore? Is everything about Big Business? Many of my peers are Veterns who care about their country and its service people. So we put up with the hardships and the low pay. "Step increases", as they are called, are sometimes the only significant pay raise we see. As a Wage Grade employee, we have 5 step increases spead out over 8years. Once you reach the top step, that's it!! Your done unless you move to a higher pay grade. Allowing "supervisors" to determine your pay, only opens up the possibilities of corruption in the work place. He who is on the Bosses Pet list will surely move up the ladder. It's common with the "old system", It will flourish with your "new system". If you were to put the energy, that you spent on NSPS reseach, into securing a fair and reasonable Health Benefits package, you would have happier and more productive employees. But, as usual, those in Management have no compassion for the Real Workers. Greed and ignorance is , apparently, not only limited to the "private sector".. You know, I love this Country, but don't you think "screw the little guy" is a little outdated?
