I presently work for the DOD, and I previously worked for them back in the early 90's. At that time I lost my job due to defense cutbacks, now it looks like I'll lose my job because I'm a threat to national security. I would like to know why now I'm a threat, when back in 1981 when I joined the U.S. Navy I wasn't a threat, and also back in 1988, when I was employed by the DOD, I wasn't a threat then. I KNOW the diference, it is simply this. Back on the two ocasions I served my country previously, the Presidents at those times, recognised the value of the civil service, and that it is a great asset to this country. Now the current administration doesn't care about that, because thay think that privetisation is the answer to all the problems experienced by the DOD, and other government agencies. I have to ask myself, why is the present administration so adament about implementing these changes, and only one answer comes to mind-MONEY. What will President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and other members of the administration gain from these changes? Does a V.P. or Presidents position with Haliburten await Mr. Rumsfeld in 2009? One has to wonder. I do not want the NSPS implemented in it's current draft. I rejoined the DOD partly because I beleived in the war on terrorism, and to support that effort, and this is how I'm rewarded. I've worked in the private sector for many years, and none of those employers treated their employees the way NSPS proposes treating DOD employees, we might as well all don prison uniforms and put shackles on our wrists, and ankles. I've never had any employer actually propose to it's employees cutting their pay. I have 20 years to go before retirement, and I don't want to be treated like a natonal security threat during those 20 years.
