Pay Band Assingment. At the US Army AMCOM, management has converted to an Acquisition Demonstration pay band system. When we transitioned, we were assured that if we converted out of the Acq Demo, our grade level would be based on whether our current pay was below a GS-15/step 6 (GS-14) or above that level (GS-15). Depending on how the pay bands are established in NSPS, that could result in personnel performing the same organizational level, but paid in separate pay bands. It would be possible, that long serving Branch Chiefs could grade out in a higher pay band than newly promoted Division Chiefs or event the Deputy Director. There is a potential for a transition process which would not support a smooth fit to our current organizational structure.
