I am writing about the proposed changes by the National Security Personnel System. Specifically, I am writing about how the changes will affect my part of the system - the Department of Defense Dependents Schools - DoDDS, run by the Department of Defense Education Activity - DoDEA. First of all, I am offended that these changes are being made in the name of National Security. The changes I have in labor law have nothing to do with National Security and, as such, the people trying to make the changes are making a mockery of this real national problem. Second, DoDDS has consistently been given rave reviews as a school system. Our test scores are consistently in the top 5, as compared to other states. Whether you use drop-out rates or college attendence as your criteria, our schools are rate near the top. Changing how we do business is NOT an attempt to improve education but a disingenious endrun to deny educators protection from the capricious acts of incompetent administrators. Our school system is not broken - it does not need to be fixed.
