I have lived in northern NY all my life,We in general are a low paying area, many other area's in the country pay much better for the same jobs that are at Fort Drum,I pay over two hundred dollars a month for health insurance for my husband and myself,I pay land tax, federal tax and state and local taxes and by the time everything is taken out of my pay I bring home less than my elderly father's housekeeper does,by the way I have been an LPN for over 20 years,I left my family to go to Walter Reed for allergy/Immunology school with no step increases and I also do the soldier readyness clinics,I work hard and feel the only advantages for the federal goverment is the guarenteed step increases and annual cost of living raises,Raises and recognitions will not happen if these changes happen,It is well known that most area's are supervised by military and the military makes it well known that if they had there way, local civilians would not even be able to apply for jobs here at drum, Please do not let this happen!! Fort Drum needs to appreciate there local population and what we contribute to the cause as so does President Bush and his administration,If this goes through the only difference between the military and the civilian poipulation at Drum will be that we can quit! the military can't,. thankyou Teresa Fleming LPN,Family Practice Fort Drum NY,Local Tax payer and registered voter.
