I think pay-for-performance is ridiculous. Why should the supervisor decide how much of a pay raise I should receive versus someone else, who may be the same grade as me, but this is also a friend to the supervisor. We may get the same rating but that person still has the opportunity to get a larger pay raise. This is taking place already in the office with performance awards, so I know what will happen with pay raises. This kills the morale. There are too many personal feelings involved when these decisions are made by the majority of supervisors. Also, if a RIF takes place and the friend of the supervisor has a better rating than me, not because their work performance is better, guess who can kiss their job goodbye. If you are not in the click, don't expect much. This really sucks, big time.
