I am writing to voice my opinion on the NSPS. I have read several comments from other concerned employees and must say that I am ashamed. I have only been with the Federal Government for 2 years but already see that there are many employees I would not want to associate myself with. This new system will reward performance over seniority. What is wrong with that? Why should someone be placed in a position of leadership because they are old? I am very young compared to most employees at my duty station, but I do not want to have to wait 10 or 15 years before I can be promoted to a leadership position. If younger employees possess the skills necessary to accomplish the job then why should they be penalized because of their age? I believe many federal employees have become lazy and have not been penalized because of the current GS system restraints. They know they can just get by and they will still get paid as much as those working much harder. This isn't the way to run a business, and the Government is just that, a business. Of the many comments I read before writing my own, the majority were not even written with correct grammar, spelling, or punctuation. How does this reflect the Federal workforce? We cannot even write a cohesive paragraph! I do understand that there have been problems in the text of messages during the posting process, however I don't think that all of the errors are due to that. Overall, I support the NSPS and believe it's time for the Government to catch up with the rest of the business society. We've carried around a lot of dead weight for long enough.
