I have a difficult job in the government...telling my co-workers, my immediate and distant supervisors unpleasant things. Things that cost time and money. I am a safety and occupational health specialist. Under the current system I could speak out without fear of reprisal when it came to the safety and health of WG and GS workers because I knew I was protected. It allowed me to work with the system to correct deficiencies. Under the new system I will not be protected. I will be at the mercy of ALL supervisor's and military personnel's whims. I could not do my my job. At the same time I could be held criminally liable because I did not speak up. My life would be a Catch 22, speak up and risk being banded and evaluated out of my job and retirement ( last 3 years average drastically reduced) or go with the flow and risk lives. I have 10 years before I can apply to the lowest available age to retire. I and every other safety and health professional may as well have bull's eyes painted on our foreheads. Safety and health will become lip service with zombies fearfully executing their master's will. I have given exceptional effort during my last 20 yrs of service, as I grow older will I be punished with a lesser retirement because as a 60+ yr old I cannot compete with a 20 + year old? Yes, I will under the new system. The government should have more ethical standards than that!
