I've done a quick review of the comments submitted on the implemenation of NSPS and see that there is a lot of consternation that this new system will be a repeat of past mistakes. I have been a DOD employee for nearly 5 years after serving actively and honorably in the Air Force for 26 and haven't the foggiest idea of what the current system is all about, let alone this new one. I know that I am a vital part of my unit and am not opposed to doing any work in and around the office that needs to be done. The one thing I do know about the current system is that the hiring process is slow and cumbersome. I work in a unit where, until this month, I was the only civilian working with and beside Lt Cols, Majors, Captains, and enlisted members, so I guess I haven't had the opportunity to see the problems that might be encountered by large units. My main concern with a new system is that my supervisor has little knowledge about the current system and is always coming to me asking questions that I don't know, so how is he going to have the time to learn this new system? Especially since it sounds like my pay will be impacted significantly if he doesn't take the time to research issues. Why not fix what was broken with the old system?
