It is my belief that giving immediate supervisors more authority over our careers is not a good thing. There is still too much room for favoritism, giving their pet employees good evaluations and pay raises and leaving others, regardless of good work they may do, out in the cold. We still need the benefit of union representation, also, to fight for our rights. A prime example of this is the recent law suit filed by nine white Robins AFB employees when their evaluations were lowered to give higher evaluations to minority employees. We, as civilians, should not be required to relocate or go to a war zone involuntarily or fear loss of our jobs. If we wanted to do so, we would have joined the military. We should be allowed to support the war fighter at the base where we were hired to work and plan to retire.
