My concerns are the same as many in the work force. With the new system being activated, we will be subject to the scutiny of our supervisors. These same supervisors that got their jobs thru time in grade or who have been moved here thru military needs or promotion. With constant turn over of military, it becomes quite common that a new supervisor does not operate the same as the past. This will cause me great concern for performance based raises and competency evaluations. For instance, my current supervisor does not believe in excellence ratings because he says no one is perfect. Now if he doesnt rate excellent and another supervisor does, it is very possible I may lose out on the rewards due to me based not on my performance but on someones beliefs. This new system will not allow equal representation for all employed. If I was to feel discriminated against for these actions my chain of command is very limited and my ability to complain has also been limited to hear say. What would an employee be able to do at that time. I am also concerned about the continued hiring of younger more egar individuals who may unfairly exploit their physical abilities to out perform the older employees. It is known that some positions require a physical performance rating and it is not easy to change jobs as you age. This new system allows for the elimination of older workers under other than age discrimination. The new system has many flaws as does many of the hiring and firing proceedures used in todays system. How can I expect to get to retirement age with these new competetive proceedures, or is the government trying to eliminate people before they get to that age, like so many other companies have done in the past with similar guidelines. Thank you for your time.
