I am new to the GS system. I came over from the WG ranks. I am also a new firefighter and am worried about the normal pay progressions that I came over to and are expecting. I am also concerned that the Government wanted to get away from the "Good Ole Boy" system, by bringing this type of system on I believe that this just reinstitutes that type of system. "If your employee is liked by the Super then he/she will benefit by that realtionship. On the flip side, an equally good employee that is not best friends or 'buddies' with the same super then he/she may not get a pay raise." This type of system puts a questionable effect on promotions.
