Performance Management and Adverse Actions. I am a supervisor. I have not received any training, formal or informal to deal with adverse actions. In the past, when I asked a question about a pending adverse action, I am given a document to read. I have to figure out what I am supposed to do. What training will supervisors/ management be given under this system? Will there be mandatory training? If not, there should be. In the past, my ratings were used to determine bonuses. If I understand correctly - Under this system, both basic pay and bonuses for my employees will be affective by my ratings. It will be helpful to have some training to avoid timely adverse action situations. Finally, how will the new system address fairness and bias? For example – two supervisors rating two groups of employees doing the same type work and performing at the same level – all employees are performing at a satisfactory level. One supervisor rates his employees satisfactory. There are no adjustments made to his employee’s salary and no bonuses given. The other supervisor rates ‘selected’ employees above average so he can increase pay and offer bonuses to them. How will this be prevented?
