This whole reform sucks, and the back handed, sneaky way in which it is being done. Did you ask any of us that are in the trenchs already what we thought before you developed your new format? NO. If you came down out of your Ivory Towers and spent any time with us, you would know that we have already trained, cross trained, adjusted, readjusted and become more flexable. Who do you think picks up the slack, when our uniformed side kicks get deployed? Your DoD civillians. If the government wants to save money, then tell the Senators and Congressmen/women to stop giving themselves unbelievable raises every year. Tell them to give up their numerous little perks that they enjoy so much. You want to get rid of the DEEP POCKETS (who already has the know how to work the system before the new technology came along), but what are you going to do when your new technology crashes and no one can do any work because they weren't taught the old fashioned ways before the NEW TECHNOLOGY? In some facialities you already have some people performing 4 different jobs (down sizeing). It's really hard sometimes to get all 4 jobs done and kept up to date at the same time, and you want to cut our base pay, not give us cost of liveing raises, do away with locality pay, with no promotions? How many people are going to lose their jobs because they've been with the system for 15 - 20 (I call it stability) so someone can bring all their friends in and give them a job? You brought civillians into the DoD to give it stability while the uniformed transfer every 2 - 6 years. Now you want to reward those hard working, dedicated, stabile civillians with takeing their money away, weather on the job, retirement, or benefits, with no way to address our grievences in DUE PROCESS with collective bargaining where you pick and choose who you might consider. Oh, I forgot, we don't matter you still have your jobs, pay raises, retirement plans and benefits. You don't have to worry about your jobs, gosh your the ones makeing the rules. For once in you gready lives get in the trenches with us and see what actually happens. Remember you weren't always in that Ivory Tower. You had to claw your way up also. Besides when was the last time that Congress or the Senate did what the people wanted? They do what is best for them, big business, and don't forget the pork barrelling. I've dedicated 16 yrs of my life to this country, just like the uniformed services, so they can fight for US (you, me, the homeless,and the native american) without to much worry, and now YOU want to penalize the uniformed services and the civillians? Shame on you. You and your childern go fight the war, while the uniformed services and the civillians run the country. We might even get something good for the country done while we are at it.
