As a DoD employee for almost 2 years, I would like to comment on the new pay system. I have been working as a temporary employee in two different jobs, with little hope of becoming permanent. I have been passed up for the permanent jobs 8 times since my employment started, due to med hold, veterans status, etc. I feel that I am discriminated against even though I am a school, county, state, and federal tax payer. I might add that I have had above average evaluations these past two years. My career plan was to work my hardest and hope that my work record will speak for itself when a permanent job becomes available as I have lived near Fort Drum my whole life and planned to make this my career. With the new system, I may have a military member planning my future. We all know who will fill the next job, it won't be me as I don't live next door to a senior officer. It will be the military wife that hosts the tea parties. I hope the new pay/rating system works well, I seriously have my doubts. Will I be asked for my comments next year after I have been rated by another supervisor that has recently moved in the position, and has viewed my job performance for 30 days???
