So in the past, at least I knew that I would get a cost of living raise each year to help with the rising cost of the medical insurance which we as federal employees pay a lot for and I knew that I would get my step increases when I should regardless if the boss really liked me or not or if I participated in the after work socials, gift giving, secret santa or secret pal gifts, toys for tots programs, gift boxes for needy families, etc. NOW, if I don't participate in these things then I probably won't get a raise each year as the boss really does hold these things against you as far as promotions are concerned, but that has never bothered me as I knew that I was still going to get the step increases and cost of living. Now it will and is not fair, it will all depend on how much you suck up to the bosses and play the game, not really how good you do your work. I could be doing the same work or more than my co-worker who will get more money than me just because he/she goes out after work with the bosses, gives to the bosses favorite charity, helps the boss with needy family projects, etc. I think that if you are going to get rid of the system the way it is, then you had better not increase the health insurance each year or I will not be able to afford it. If the insurance goes up like it does every year and I don't get an increase in my pay as I am not one of the favorites then I would be making LESS money than the previous year. That's something to look forward to............................. Who decided on this program, someone that was looking out for their "good ole buddy's"?
