I came home to visit my Dad who has worked for the Federal Government since 1986. He served in Vietnam and did four years in the Marine Corps. My Dad went to Iraq in 2003/2004 to help rebuild Iraq serving as a civilian with the Corps of Engineers. He shared with me his concerns of the new NSPS which is proposed by the Army. My question to you is what did these civilians do to creat such anger with their management? Why are you treating them like they did something wrong? My Dad has been a Union Steward for many years and always fought for the right of the employee against well-meaning but inept managers. I know of the nights he would be upset with some of the unbelievable actions taken by his managers and felt so good to defend the rights of those he represented. Now it seems the Army will take that away. Why? I work for a very large Banking System and cannot believe some of the things he would bring home and spend hours researching the rules and defend the rights of the people that elected him as a represenative. I think my Dad is going to retire early now and what a loss that will be for the Army. I think you people should be ashamed of yourselves for making a man consider retiring early just so he is no longer afraid of the repurcussions of staying on. I personally have found that my dad is able to comfortably retire early and I am glad for it. He deserves to finally have some peace.
