I am a 25 year employee with civil service. I am a hard worker and dedicated to my job. I have always recieved good performance appriasal and even awards for doing a great job. I feel that this new personnel system offers very little to someone like me. From everything I have read and heard, this just sounds like a "good ole boy system". If the supervisor doen't like you for any reason, the employee is toast! I am NOT a brown-noser and am not planning on becoming one. I feel as if I will be at the mercy of one person, the supervisor. I also don't understand these pay bands. They sound extreme. Someone in the organization will be penalized (justified or not) with these pay bands. It sounds like the managers will have to "rob Peter to pay Paul". If only so much money is alotted to an organization, someone will not be getting a fair shake. Does my 25 years as a good employee mean anything?? Will my tenture be tossed aside for a new kid off the street? This is a very uncomfortable feeling! And I don't understand how to apply for another position. Will I have to negoation my salary? I certainly would hope EVERY matter in this revamp of the personnel system would be mapped out and published BEFORE it all set in place. This new system may be great for hiring fast and firing fast, but what about all the points inbetween?? I am not in favor of this new system at all. I do hope that my opinion matters. Thank you for your time!
