It has been stated that civilians cannot legally lose pay under nsps implementation, but then stated that once under nsps, we will be subject to pay banding. What about those of us that are currently under save pay status? Are we then to suffer a pay loss after nsps takes effect, simply because of the pay banding, or do we still have protection of our pay? Under the old system, we still obtain the annual pay raises given by congress, but at a lower (50% of normal) rate than others, until such time as our pay scale has caught up with the save pay that we are receiving. Under the new system, it seems that initially we'll receive the same pay, until such time as we fall under review, then our pay could be cut, possibly severely, so that it conforms with the new nsps pay banding. I receive save pay due to a job I performed in a remote area of Alaska, under contract with the navy. Since the contract was legal and binding, do I have any protection from this pay loss under nsps? I have seen nothing concerning this issue, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who is looking at this possibility. Like others, I do not feel it's fair to me to take such a drastic pay loss, since it's not my fault that the rules were written that way. Please advise!
