As a veteran of the USAF, with a tour of duty in Viet Nam, I don't appreciate the NSPS toying with the veterans preference. They tell us everything is going to be the same out of one side of their mouth. When you sit down and look at the wording and really look into what they plan on doing to the Veteran they are just blowing smoke up your _____. Why ruin the Civil Service system when there is nothing wrong with it. The problem here where I work is if you are a veteran and are applying for a job upgrade into any area with very few veterans and the supervisor is not a veteran you may as well forget about the promotion. They seem to keep all veterans out of a shop with lower not vet personell.With the change in the veterans preference a RIF will see more and more veterans going down the road with the friends of the supervisors (non veterans) with much less time staying on the job. This is just not right.
