I have a supervisor that does not believe in the recognition or reward of civilian employees. He has flat out stated the no one should receive any type of award for going to work and doing their job. I have a big problem with this. This man is going to decide my future. The ability to determine my own civilian career has been removed and placed in his hands. He now is going to tell me when and if I get promoted. When and if I get an award. In my 10 years in this office I have received 2 awards. With both being nominated by an outside organization. Not a single person in my office has received an award that was nominated by my office. Because none have been submitted by my supervisor. We also have been having major difficulties over the last 2 years. Directly related to the relationship between supervisor and office employees. I have grave concerns with the possible 'time to get even' when it's rating time. Retribution seems to be a very real possibility with a lack of checks and balances.
