I totally disagree with giving immediate management authority to "hire and fire", "give raises/hold raises", "give awards", "send on special assignments", etc. The management that I am under is the "Good Ole' Boys Club". It seems that whomever reports to the Manager the most and directly brags about their accomplishments are the ones they award. This would be a big mistake to enpower them with this authority. The women in our area do not receive promotions as it is and this will give them even more authority to leverage against us. I am in no way a cry baby, but I think that giving them more power would be a big mistake.
