I do not see how this new system will be any better than the current system...seems like someone is always trying to reinvent the wheel. I have worked for the government for many years, and I am concerned how the new system will impact my high three calculation and how it will figure into a RIF scenario among other issues. I am also afraid that it is being enacted too quickly without knowing for sure it is going to work well. It appears it is one of those deals that "it's gonna work whether it works or not." Unfortunately, the government continues to do things like that; they fail to learn from past mistakes. Those in charge need to be absolutely sure all the "bugs" are worked out before they go "live" with the new system. Most federal workers are very dedicated, hard-working people, and it seems like they are always bad-mouthed and put-down. It has been proven more than once that contracting out does not save the government money and in many cases does not provide the best service, yet the powers that be continue to pursue this venue. Is the new system going to further jeopardize civilian employees. These employees are the backbone of the various services - they are there when the military transfer. They are the ones who provide the continuity and expertise that keeps things moving. Why is it that they are always the ones to be put on the chopping block. There are so many other ways the government could revamp and save money starting with Congress. If the current administration continues pushing for things such as not paying people for overtime, cutting benefits, social programs, health care etc, soon there will be no middle class citizens. There will only be the very rich and the very poor. Pick on industry rather than government employees for a change. We're tired of getting a bad rap.
