We have had programs in the past that were supposed to open the line communications between the supervisor and their employees. As a matter of fact we have one now and the only communication I get from my supervisor is where to sign. Are we expecting supervisors to inately know how to establish communication with their employees. They need training to be successful at this part of their job. It is probabaly the most important part of their job. I am deeply concerned about the decision to give or not give a pay raise being left to my surpervisor. First of all we have no communication therefore there are no expectations established. Without this communication my supervisor does not have the necessary tools to make decisions about my performance. My performance could be based on sex, race, or if I play cards at lunch time with my supervisor. This doesn't seem like a fair system. What can we do to ensure that pay raises are doled out fairly?
