I'm writing in reference to the proposed regulations issued 14 February 2005 by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Department of Defense (DOD) to establish the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). I have worked hard and gone above and beyond for DOD. I feel this change will affect production, morale, promote bad relations between supervisors and employees/employees and employees within DOD. Deployment to anywhere in the world including into a war zone with little or no notice is a military duty. I helped deploy many military personnel while overseas. Hearing the stress of leaving their families behind and the heartache of losing their families due to separation and moving, children being affected emotionally and mentally was hard for me to hear. The military enlisted knowing they would be deployed with little or no notice. They also knew they were getting full benefits including their cost of living each year. What I see is the federal employee being deployed and treated like a military person and not getting the same benefits. This is insane. This proposal is unfair to federal employees. We are working hard to protect our country as well. I'm asking that DOD leave things as they are or look over this proposal again and insert rules and regulations that's fair for the civilian work force.
