Paragraph 9901.343. Pay reduction based on unacceptable performance and/or conduct. I can understand reduction in pay for conduct. This would serve as a useful management tool to discourage unacceptable conduct. However, pay reduction for unacceptable performance should be reconsidered--especially if a single supervisor/manager determines unacceptable performance. If pay is reducted for unacceptable performance, it should be reviewed by a minimum of one level higher than the immediate manager/supervisor and preferably higher. The head of the pay management pool should be involved in such pay determinations. Under LAB DEMO, denying pay raises served as a disincentive to unacceptable performance and effectively served as a pay reduction over time. I would ask reconsideration of pay reduction for unacceptable performance.
