I do believe that there needs to be something done with the system HOWEVER. I feel that you are going about it all wrong. I feel that by taking out the step increases for a worker will make it so THAT MOST of us whether we are hard workers or not. I feel that MANAGERS will make it so that those that they like will only see a raise. Let alone managers helping out other managers family giving them raises. I have seen managers that are step 10 so YES they want to see this change. I feel that if they are step 10, then within 5 YEARS they should have a manditory retirement DATE... That for one thing would eliminate a VERY BIG FACTOR. The hiring I think SHOULD BE FIXED it takes WAY to long for a person to get hired. I mean lets face it when an opening comes about there are those that they already WANT to have that OPEN position so why NOT appoint it to that person and that then opens up a lower grade job, in turn this will make it so that jobs get filled that MUCH quicker. I guess I do see a need but I personally feel that you are going about this all wrong. Our nation was created upon certain values and you are now changing those values. Where as a civilian worker you could ask for help and get the correct information and KNOW that your co-worker did what ever they could to help. Now it will be wrong information to make a worker look bad so that they will get the raises I ask that you reconsider this and take a look at the BIG picture there is more at stake then just changing a few things. I thank you for your attention in this matter and I hope that you understand what I mean. I am a very low paid federal worker and could make more in the civilian work force but I choose to work for the nation that I love.
