We believe the DoD proposed pay system will likely mean smaller pay increases in the future for most employees than under the current pay system. If our salaries are lower in the future under NSPS than under the current pay system, our future retirement benefits will be less as a result. These rules will have the long-term effect on federal employees making these positions less desirable. Predictions claim there will be a large turn over in personnel such as that in private companies. We currently have very good continuity for the work conducted, we work on multi million dollar fighter jets, and we don’t need fly by night people working on these jets. Security will be an issue with a large turnover of employees. DoD needs to check with private companies to see what the turnover rate is; I am sure it’s a lot more than we have now. This all puts a larger price tag on this new system and potential security risks.
