As a federal employee, it seems NSPS will give me more control of my level of income. Under the current system, I have progressed through hard work and dedication to mission success. I fully support pay for performance under NSPS, especially since extraordinary performance levels could lead to a higher salary. Hopefully, it will serve as motivation for more employees. As a supervisor, NSPS will give us much more flexibility to motivate employees through pay for performance. This will directly enhance mission effectiveness. The current system is inadequate and does not provide timely resolution of performance issues. This is a much needed and welcomed change. I am happy to see the requirement to justify why an employee should receive a pay increase (through performance linked to mission accomplishment). Under the current system, unless a supervisor can justify why an employee should not get a wage grade increase, it seems automatic. I have reviewed some of the comments and it seems a lot of employees are concerned about how objective their rater will be. In fact, it would seem they should be more concerned about their performance level as it relates to mission accomplishment. However, I would bet most of these employees have a cause for alarm if potential pay increases are based on their current performance level. Overall, I think this is the right thing to do and if everyone does their part it will be successful.
