Comments:

Training of supervisors and managers in the correct means of evaluating the staff is one issue. However, it is minor in comparison with the issue of holding the supervisors accountable for using such training in the day to day interactions with their staff. Many supervisors ignore the human aspects of their jobs and cling budgetary or production aspects of their supervisory roles or indeed merely continue doing their technical jobs while being paid as a supervisor. Traditionally the aspects of the human dimension of supervisor is IGNORED by many if not most of the supervisors. They would selected because they were good technicians NOT that they lead or interacted well with others. Once selected they continue to be rewarded for the technical aspects rather than the leadership aspects of the job. Unless management holds itself and its supervisors ACCOUNTABLE for the Human Capital segment of supervision, pay for performance will be a mere illusion.
