 Patrick T. Shine named acting director of DFAS Dr. Dov S. Zakheim, Under Secretary of Defense
(Comptroller), recently named Patrick T. Shine the acting
director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in a memo to senior
leaders of Department of Defense, effective Dec. 5, 2003.
The memo read:
"As many of you know, Mr. Thomas R. Bloom, the current
Director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) is departing
to pursue other challenges. Tom has served the Department extremely
well during his tenure. We will miss his expertise, talent and dedication
to improving financial management.
"I am pleased to announce that I have named Mr. Pat Shine as
the Acting Director, DFAS, effective December 5, 2003, until a permanent
director can be appointed. Mr. Shine is currently the Director,
Military and Civilian Pay Services, DFAS, where he has done an outstanding
job.
"Please give Mr. Shine your full support during this time of
transition."
